BEFORE A PERSON PASSES

Depending on the circumstances of a loved one’s passing, a family may have the opportunity to either gather information or actually make complete arrangements before the death of their loved one. Arrangements can either be made in person or through this website. Pre-payment of services is also available.

If a death happens unexpectedly, our staff is always available to answer questions and provide immediate assistance.

WITHIN HOURS OF A LOVED ONE’S PASSING

This is one of the most stressful and emotional times in a person’s life. Our staff will guide you through this time. The circumstances of your loved one’s death will determine the initial steps.

  • OUR LOVED ONE IS AT HOME UNDER HOSPICE CARE- It is important NOT to call 911 or other authorities. Once your family has had their time with your loved one simply call your hospice agency. They will dispatch a nurse to your home and verify your loved one indeed passed away. Your hospice agency will notify DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Funeral Chapel. Our staff will bring your loved one into our care.

  • YOUR LOVED ONE IS AT HOME- UNEXPECTEDLY- A single phone call to DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Funeral Chapel is all that’s needed. Depending on the county requirements, we will guide you through the next steps. If 911 has not already been called, we will assist the family in notifying the proper authorities in order to simplify the process of bringing your loved one into our care.

  • YOUR LOVED ONE IS AT A NURSING HOME OR HOSPICE INPATIENT FACILITY- Typically the nursing home will immediately call the emergency contact to notify them of their loved one’s death. It is up to the family if they wish to go to the nursing home. If it had not already been done, please inform the facility that DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Funeral Chapel will be handling the arrangements. Once you have finished your visit, or plan not to go to the facility, the nurse will notify DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Funeral Chapel so we can bring your loved one into our care.

  • YOUR LOVED ONE IS AT A HOSPITAL- When a loved one dies in a hospital, they typically are discharged just as any other patient would be released. Please let the hospital know DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Funeral Chapel will be handling the arrangements. Contact our staff and we will work with the facility to bring your loved one into our care.
