Obituary

Ruth L. Trondsen of Aurora, Illinois. Formerly of Naperville, Illinois, was born on September 11, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska to Mildred Royce James and Herbert C. James. She passed away on October 10, 2020 at her Aurora home.

Ruth graduated from Washington Grade School (1947), Hawthorne Junior High School (1950) and York Community High School (1954), all of which are located in Elmhurst, Illinois. During her time at school, she was active in music, including band, choir, piano and string bass. Ruth attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa where she majored in English.

On May 11, 1957, at the First Methodist Church in Elmhurst, Illinois, Ruth married Richard Paul Trondsen after having met as retail clerks at Ruby’s Department Store. They remained dedicated to each other for over 63 years, which were filled with fun, discovery and love.

Ruth is the loving mother of David (M. Norene nee Higgins) Trondsen of Naperville, Illinois, Pamela Diane Trondsen Hayes of Knoxville, TN, Jeffrey (M. Christina nee Parakilis) Alan Trondsen of Coppell, Texas and Debra Lynn (M. John) Trondsen Sciano of Strongsville, Ohio. She is the proud grandmother of Dustin (M. Brenna nee Vogel) Richard Hayes USMC, Megan Kathleen Hayes, Michael Jeffrey Trondsen and Grace Anna Trondsen. She is also the proud great-grandmother of Daxon Richard Hayes,

Ruth was an active member of several churches through her life. She was a founding member of the Methodist Church in Woodridge, Illinois where she was a youth leader, Choir Member and Church Pianist from 1959 - 1965. She then served as the church Pianist at the First United Methodist Church in Elmhurst, Illinois from 1965 - 1986. Ruth currently attended Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville, Illinois from 1995 until present.

Ruth had many pursuits through out her life. She served as a Republican Committeewoman-Woodridge, Illinois from 1959 to 1965. She was a piano accompanist for a professional singer, 20 year volunteer guide at Brookfield Zoo, Brookfield, Illinois. A member of Elmhurst Cotillion Social Dancing Club and member of Lincoln School Bridge Club from 1965 until present. She worked for various Medical Clinics and hospitals though out her life, including Elmhurst Clinic and Elmhurst Hospital.

Ruth also had numerous hobbies, including being a worldwide traveler, an antique dealer from 1995 to the present, avid reader, puzzle enthusiast, Chicago Cub fan and Mickey Mouse zealot. She would often assist her husband in professional wild animal photography.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
