Obituary

Robert “Doc” Frederick Stewart, of West Chicago, IL, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020 at the age of 71.

Doc was born to parents Jack and Mary Stewart on October 20, 1948 in Melrose Park, IL. He grew up the fourth of five children and attended Proviso West High School. In August 1969, he enlisted into the Army, fought in the Vietnam War, and earned a Bronze Star Medal for his service.

After returning from the war, Doc married Lynette Arlene Dahl in 1973 and the couple had two children. Doc worked for the United States Postal Service as a maintenance engineer and facility manager until his retirement in 2011. Doc was an active member of his church, New Life Bilingual Church (Formerly First Baptist Church of West Chicago) and served as a deacon for several years. Doc loved spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, genealogy, golfing and garage sale shopping.

Doc is survived by his wife Lynette Stewart; his sons, Brian Stewart and Matt Stewart; his brother Jack P Stewart Jr; his sisters, Norma Jennings and Mary Stewart; and three grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary; and his sister, Myrl Linton.

The family will be holding a private memorial service and the cremated ashes will be laid to rest in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
