Obituary

John Roy Plant, 72, of Montgomery, IL died on October 14, 2020 after a hard-fought battle with dementia at Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence in Elk Grove Village.
John was born and raised in Aurora, IL, was a graduate of West Aurora High School, and attended Aurora College. He was a born salesman and worked at Edward Hines Lumber for over 20 years.
Always active, John loved cross country running, skiing, and rollerblading. He was an avid golfer and could be found on the golf course from daybreak to sunset, playing several rounds, always walking the course. If there wasn't frost, he was there.
He will be loved and missed by surviving wife of 41 years Mary Lou (Koster); his four daughters, Terri (James) of Berwyn, IL, Laura of Nova Scotia, Ashlee (Alan) Hott of Las Vegas, NV, and Aimee of Montgomery, IL; a grandson, Gus of Nova Scotia; his siblings Janet (Ken) Herman of Polk City, FL, Mark (Kay) of Streator, IL, and Thomas of Montgomery, IL; sister-in-law Antoinette (Stephen) Frieders of Rockford, IL; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene Norris and Melvin Plant; step-father Tom Norris; brother James Plant; and sister-in-law Laurie Plant.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeview Memory Care and Alexian Brothers Hospital. Those who so desire may make memorial donations to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (lbda.org) or the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) in memory of John. Services will be held at a later date.
