Obituary

Francis Raymond Witt
Born: June 8, 1934, Chicago, IL
Died: December 24, 2012, Wheaton, IL

Active, happy, and directing his life to the very last, Francis Raymond Witt succumbed to cancer on December 24, 2012, dying peacefully at his home in Wheaton, IL surrounded by loved ones. He was 78.

He is survived by his spouse of 33 years, Judith Weber Witt, two brothers, George Witt (54), Michael Witt (49), seven children and step-children, nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

A proud graduate of Franklin Park's Leyden High School (Class of '51) Frank participated in a wide variety of sports before focusing on his first love, golf. Accomplished at the prep and college levels, Frank made golf his career becoming a professional golfer and member of the PGA. Competing on the PGA's winter and Caribbean tour, he was the winner of the 1968 Del Rio (TX) Open. In 1963, Frank became the head golf professional at Cress Creek Country Club in Naperville, Illinois for nearly 30 years and later served as a teaching professional at White Eagle Golf Club and Cantigny Golf, both in Chicago's southwest suburbs.

A great friend, loving husband, and proud father, he played the course as he found it, the ball as it lies, and made every shot count. Incredibly optimistic, he lived his life to the fullest. He will be missed and fondly remembered by everyone whose life he touched.
