Elva Harris Shaw, age 92 and a longtime Winfield resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2019 in Wheaton. She was born June 27, 1926, in Lovell, Wyoming, to Pearl and Layton Harris. Elva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas Shaw, her sister Verla Minter and brothers Burnell (aka Rusty) and Roger Harris. She is survived by her children Susan (Gary) Shaw Birch, Mary Beth (Randy) Racz, Marie (Richard) Arnett and Gary (Susan) Shaw as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elva attended University of Utah and had a career in accounting, working at University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver—where she performed a cost analysis for the world’s first liver transplant in 1963—the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Marshall Field’s. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1320 Ridgeland Ave., Naperville.
