Resided in St. Charles, Illinois

Dorothy entered Heaven’s gates Monday, Jan. 11, 2021. She was 81.

She was born March 13, 1939, in Chicago, to Lawrence and Sarah Edith (nee Levander) Ploense. Dorothy overcame many obstacles in her long life. She was premature causing her to be legally blind. In spite of that, Dorothy learned to read and write without using braille. Later in life she survived breast cancer. After graduating from Luther High School North in 1958 in Chicago, she worked at Marshall Fields where she met her husband, John E. Walton. They were united in marriage by Pastor Radar on June 9, 1960, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Chicago.

Dorothy was an avid bicycle rider. One of her many favorite stops was the windmill at Fabyan Park in Batavia, Ill. As she would say, “I don’t drive so bike riding is my way to get around and to destress.”

She had many hobbies besides bike riding. She was an avid crocheter and a card stamper. Many of her friends and family were blessed by crafts she made. She also enjoyed spending time with her many friends, like going craft shopping with her longtime friend, Chrystal Lindberg. As well as going to church and lunch with Joan.

Dorothy is survived by her cherished son, James Walton of Batavia; and daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Cain of Polo, Ill. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Jennifer Walton of Batavia, Brandon Cain of St. Charles, Ill., Jacob Cain at home, Ethan Cain of Dubuque, Iowa, Nicholas Cain at home, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and brother and sister-in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 57 years; brother, Robert L. Ploense; and sister-in-law, Juanita.

Dorothy will be buried at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville, Ill. Cremation rights will be observed.
