Born in Hinsdale, Illinois
Resided in Darien, Illinois

Dana was born in Downers Grove. IL. She lived in Downers Grove until age 8. She moved with her family to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. First living in Negaunee, where she graduated from Ishpeming High School in 2000. Then in 2002 her family moved to a home on beautiful Mehl Lake in Gwinn MI. In 2017 she moved with her Mom and Dad back to Downers Grove to live with her beloved Grandma Dolores, until her Grandma’s passing. She was currently settled into her beautiful purple bedroom in a house in Darien.

Dana was a special gift. She came into the world with a hole in her heart. She survived multiple  surgeries, infections, and seizures.
Finally coming home from the hospital at 6 month of age, weighing just 9 lbs. It is agreed that this was miraculous, Praise God! Dana had continued struggles in her life, but rarely let them stop her.

To know her, was to know she LOVED dogs - all dogs. She loved her own dogs, Rockette, Zoom, Buddy, Dottie, Otto, Pippin, Bubba, and Triton mightily. She spent countless hours swimming, and playing with her brother’s dog Otto in Mehl Lake. Dana’s other loves were snakes, frogs, turtles, zoos, aquariums, coffee drinks, shopping,  and anywhere she could get a puppy kiss. She had a wonderful memory, a quick wit, and a knack for getting her way. Dana really loved water. If there was a pool, or a lake, or even a big bath tub, she would be in it.

She is survived by her devoted parents Barbara and James Powers. By her brothers who love her very much, Ryan (Melissa), Carl (Lindsey), and Jeff (Cecilia Cole). By her Aunts and Uncles, Pam Peckham, Cindy and Mark Bussman, Tom Akers, Frank and Patty Powers, Michael Powers, Mary and George Hofmann. Also by Debby and Steve Jacobs, and  Tod and  Andra Cecil.  Her two Great Aunts, Bonnie Walton and Susan Novak.  She leaves eighteen cousins who were very special to her - especially Jaime Hofmann. Her best first friend Emily Rose Kasinecz, and her long time phone friend, Sarah Bjork.
She was preceded in death by her Grandparents  - Leroy and Janet Cecil, and Frank and Dolores Powers, also her Aunt Linda Akers.

Dana loved many, and was loved greatly in return. She left us suddenly, without warning,. Leaving the world a quieter, less colorful place.
