Carla J. Teter, age 71, of Aurora, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on November 18, 2018, at Seasons Hospice House in Naperville, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in 1947 in Aurora, the daughter of Carl and Gertrude Stirn.

After graduating high school, Carla went to work for Caterpillar, Inc. where she met her future husband who was the love of her life. Carla was united in marriage in 1967 to Thomas F. Teter of Aurora.

Mrs. Teter was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurora. Carla loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed the mountains of northern New Mexico and the Northwoods of Wisconsin. She was a devoted wife, and loving mother and grandmother, putting the needs of her family and others first. In the past Carla served as a Stephen Minister at St. Paul Church, and also was a peer support volunteer for National Bone Marrow Transplant Link (nbmtLink), Blood & Marrow Transplant Information Network (BMT InfoNet), and the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF). She was a faithful member for years of the Dreyer Clinic Cancer Support Group. Carla credited the grace of God and her bone marrow transplant for giving her many added wonderful years to spend with her family and friends. She will be fondly remembered for her infectious smile and bright blue eyes, love of life, and concern for others. 

Survivors include her loving husband and best friend of 50 years, Thomas F., of Aurora; two sons, David F. (Heather) Teter of Los Alamos, NM, and John M. (Heather) Teter, North Aurora, IL; two granddaughters, Monika Teter of Boulder, CO and Melissa Teter of Los Alamos, NM; two grandsons, Matthew and Andrew of North Aurora, IL; three nephews, W. Dale Kahle (Hillary), Greg Kahle, and Todd (Angela) Stirn; as well as her beloved cousins and special friends.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude R. and Carl F. Stirn; a sister, Helen Lockard; a brother, William F. Stirn; a brother-in-law, Dale R. Kahle; nephew, Kerry Kahle; Godparents/aunt and uncle, Bertha and Ernst Stirn; and her beloved best friend of many years, Elene Dittman.

Visitation and memorial service will be held at St Paul Lutheran Church 85 S. Constitution Dr. Aurora, IL. 10:00 am visitation 11:00 am service on November 30th.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Teter's memory may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Loyola University Bone Marrow Transplant Research, 2160 South First Avenue, Maywood, IL 60513.
